Butler….Marilyn Mahan, associate dean of Business/Technology/Workforce Development at Butler Community College, has received the 2005 NCCET Regional Leadership Award-Midwest….Butler won eight awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations during a district conference this month in Wichita.  The Marketing Communications Department brought home six awards while Web Services received two awards. Of the eight winning entries, four were awarded the gold medallion, the highest honor available in each class.

 

Kansas City, Kansas….A 19-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, Community College sophomore from Leavenworth, Margaurette (Maggie) Finney, was the highest scoring female in the seven-state Central Region of the Student Math League in 2004-2005.  The tests were conducted by the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC), an organization devoted exclusively to providing a national forum for the improvement of mathematics in the first two years of college….KCKCC students Leslie Goodlin and Chris Dark won the tournament championship in Duo Interpretation at the Wildcat Forensics Tournament at Kansas State University earlier this month.  Three other KCKCC team members also reached the final rounds.

 

Pratt….In addition to raising money for Hurricane Katrina victims,  Pratt Community College is offering to waive tuition, fees, books and dorm charges on available spaces for students who were enrolled in institutions affected by the hurricane.  PCC currently has two online students and one student on campus who have taken advantage of this opportunity….The Pratt Community College nursing department has announced a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-PN exam for LPN students and a 96 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam for RN students.
